Excuse Me… Why Wasn’t I Invited to the World Dog Surfing Championships?
Hey Pack.
We need to have a serious conversation.
I just found out the World Dog Surfing Championships happened this weekend.
And nobody invited me.
…
Seriously?
I’m not saying the event wasn’t awesome.
I’m just saying…
The organizers clearly forgot to invite the future champion.
See, unlike some dogs, I’m not just pretending to be a beach dog.
I AM a beach dog.
Cardiff.
Del Mar.
Encinitas.
Solana Beach.
That’s my neighborhood.
I spend hours watching surfers every single day.
Every morning my dad and I do a surf check for San Diego on our TikTok, @KurtAndKodiak.
I inspect the waves.
I study the sets.
I analyze the conditions.
Now, have I actually surfed a wave yet?
Not exactly.
I’ve been on a paddleboard at a lake.
Honestly…
It was pretty easy.
Standing there while my dad does all the work?
I was born for it.
The ocean is next.
We’re starting my surf training this year.
Which means all of you current champions…
Enjoy your titles while you can.
Because next year?
I’m coming.
And I’m bringing the Pack.
Actually…
I have an even better idea.
Forget competing.
I should be the MC.
Can you imagine it?
“Welcome, everyone, to the World Dog Surfing Championships!”
“I’m your host, Kodiak.”
“Today’s judges will be scoring style, wave selection, overall stoke… and, most importantly…”
“Who looks the coolest wearing a life jacket.”
“Contestant number three…”
“That was a solid ride.”
“But you shook the water off on the judges.”
“Six out of ten.”
I’d be amazing.
Someone call the organizers.
I’m available.
Now before I get too carried away…
I actually think this event is pretty awesome.
Watching dogs and their humans having fun together in the ocean?
That’s what it’s all about.
Just remember…
If your dog is going to surf, safety comes first.
Wear a properly fitted dog life jacket.
Start in calm water.
Never force your dog
